Greater impact by joining forces! With the beginning of 2006, Michaela joined her sister and brother to complete the sibling trio. She brings her experience and proficiency into the winery with lots of drive and energy, love and sensitivity. The tasks have been repositioned: Birgit concentrates on running the Heurigen, Michaela und Hubert manage the winery together. Their parents Magdalena and Michael are always ready to lend a helping hand.

I felt I had to go out into the big wide world very soon. Already during my studies at the university, I gathered my first job experiences in Germany, Iceland and Sweden. My study trip to Australia was a highly inspiring time, not least because of the imposing wine scene down under. Later on, those visits abroad turned out to be very helpful for the work I did at the Wine Academy and Wine Marketing Board. I also gained a lot from my job as a financial and economic adviser. To work as a certified investment consultant and financial service provider, I had to learn the very basics of consulting advice and sale, including a post-graduate course at the Donau Universität in Krems

Today, I know what it is worth to have such a fascinating occupation. It takes many decent properties to be a considerate and successful vintner. And this is exactly what challenges me.

The Leithaberg has got what it takes to make great, distinctive wines - white, red and sweet. What I seek is finesse and elegance, varietal expression and personality rather than power. I love delicate fruit and luring scents, with unobtrusive wood. I am especially taken with aromatic varieties, while offering diversity and a broad spectrum to our customers.

After I had finished my training at the technical school for tourism in Neusiedl, I was immediately employed by the Hotel Intercontinental in Vienna. There, I gathered my first professional experience outside the winery and, for the first time, captured the bustling atmosphere of the city. It didn't take long to decide to go back home and have a family. Soon I could devote myself to the most difficult, but also most rewarding task of the world: to be the mother of my three children. Besides, there was plenty to do on the winery. I finally took over the sole responsibility for the Heuriger in 2001 (2002).

My favorite thing is to cook what my guests like to eat. I enjoy spoiling them with savory treats. And since the introduction of a smoke-free zone in the cellar room, food and wine are fully accentuated by the overall comfort. In the future, I will continue to prepare seasonal dishes with fresh ingredients and vary the menu with weekly specials.

I used to lend my helping hand to my parents from an early age, soon recognizing that quality does not happen by chance. That's probably why my professional career, after having qualified for a degree in food and biotechnology at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences in Vienna, led me to work in the quality management field of national and international companies. I finally decided to return home to the family winery.

In nature, amidst the vines, I am in my element, feeling connected to earth, enjoying the marvelous view of the lake from the vineyard, thinking of the wines that will be created … For me, this is the inspiration for many beautiful hours and lively discussions with our guests and partners.

I read wine like a perfume! Lovely smelling, beguiling, stimulating, an elixir of life. Whenever I want to discover the aromas and flavors of a wine, I penetrate to its very essence - where I will find the secrets of a splendid wine.
